On June 8, 2018, the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) announced their sincere apology to their customers who use the prepaid meter system and are having difficulty in buying energy.

It took the disco 5 days to rectify the issue as they announced that they were back on June 13, 2018. In their words, they said and we quote, “WE ARE BACK! After a successful upgrade of our network system, you can now vend or pay your bills across all our franchise. Once again we apologize for any inconvenience the network downtime may have caused.”

Theoretically, customers who had exhausted their units and needed to top-up within the 5 days had to other option than to remain in darkness until their server was back up.

Yesterday, the disco took to their social media platforms to announce another ‘Outage Notification’. The disco disclosed that a planned server maintenance has been scheduled for today, June 17, 2018 to upgrade their capacity to help serve their customers better. Furthermore they revealed that between the hours of 7am and 12Noon, all billing and vending operations would be unavailable during the stated outage periods. They once again apologize for any inconveniences this might cause.

The first maintenance took 5 days, the second is presumed to take 5 hours; we hope it won’t take more than that.
